Calling all food photographers! Celebrating the artistry of food, its preparation, and the diverse culinary cultures around the world.

*Top Tip* Lighting: Natural light is often best. Use soft, diffused light to avoid harsh shadows. If shooting indoors, place your setup near a window. 

We encourage every creative photographer to enter this competition and share their talents amongst our passionate commmunity.

Competition Category Ideas

1. Flavours of the World – A celebration of international cuisines and traditional dishes, showcasing the rich diversity of food across the globe. Think vibrant street food scenes, family recipes, and signature dishes from different cultures.

2. Plated Perfection – The art of food presentation. Capturing intricate plating techniques, beautifully styled meals, and the creativity that goes into making food not just delicious, but visually stunning.

3. From Farm to Table – Highlighting the journey of food from its origins to the final dish. This could include fresh ingredients, farmers' markets, food production, and sustainable farming practices.

4. Sweet Delights – Desserts, pastries, and confections. Showcasing the colorful, sugary creations that add a little sweetness to life.

5. Behind the Scenes – Candid moments in the kitchen, capturing the energy, action, and skill that goes into preparing a meal. These images might include chefs at work, food prep, or the tools of the trade.

6. The Story in Every Bite – Photos that tell a story through food, from family gatherings and festive meals to the intimate joy of sharing a meal with loved ones.

The Rules

• The work must be that of the entrant
• State which competition name in file or zip file name
• No entry will be eligible that has been made under the supervision of an instructor or as a class assignment
• Images submitted must be no larger than 2000 pixels wide
• All entrants must be able to supply a high resolution image (300dpi)
• No distinguishing marks on the images
• Copyright of the images remains with the photographer - The Societies recognises that the entrant, the author of the photograph, retains complete and full ownership of the copyright in each submission
• Entries can be used for publicity purposes only by The Societies and may be printed in our magazine Professional Imagemaker, also other promotional purposes.
• Competition closes May 31st 2025
• The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
