Last January was Sean's first time speaking at The Convention and the fact that he's coming back for a second time is testament to how much he enjoyed it. 'I didn't really know what to expect to be honest and I was just flabbergasted at the scale of it! I went to lots of talks by other photographers and I'd have seen even more if I could!' Since talks on architectural photography are a rarity at the Convention I wondered if he'd enjoyed seeing things from a different perspective. 'Some of the talks I went to were a million miles away from what I do, but they were interesting because you always learn something new.'
This year Sean is giving a talk about interior photography. With so many weddings taking place at architecturally stunning venues, knowing a little about this kind of photography can really help a wedding photographer up their game and offer something genuinely different. 'I'm going to talk through the whole process that I take on a shoot. I'll start with talking about planning a shoot so that you get the most from your time on site. Then we'll discuss technical aspects like camera movements, lighting and composition. But I'd also like to talk about how to make the most of the gear that you have when you're starting when you don't have lots of top-end photographic kit. I'll also be showing some before and after shots of spaces so that you can see what difference the lighting makes.' So if you've ever wondered how Sean approaches and lights some of the cavernous spaces that he's photographed, then this will really be one talk that you shouldn't miss.
