Fonts

There are 825 Open Type Latin fonts and 68 fonts with glyphs for Latin, Central European, Cyrillic and Greek character sets. There are 19 sets of symbols including maths and Greek scientific characters. Although Helvetica is billed it is actually the 1980s Helvetica Neue which is provided. This is a large font family with many weights and width variations and replaced Helvetica when Linotype rationalised its Helveticas in the 1980s. This is more than semantics though, we run into font naming problems all the time with Helvetica (ie five occasions this issue alone!). Helvetica was provided as far back as Version 6 of CorelDRAW; known as Swiss 721 and provided in 36 variations it is still on the Version X6 DVD. The rationalisation is welcome even if it will still take a while for legacy documents to be cleaned up! Frutiger Neue is also provided, as is Univers (called Zurich). Futura also remains in 18 variations of weight. Overall then, there is plenty for every taste and you would be hard pushed to end up 'fontless' on any project!

Making a Complete Page Layout

1. The CorelDRAW clip art is opened in CorelDRAW then copied to the clip board.
2. The artwork is pasted into Illustrator, flipped and then individual letters are added.
3. The letters are converted to outlines and then all paths are selected followed by the 'Divide' paths command.
4. Individual, separate zones are re-coloured to create the illusion that the hair is flowing inside and out of the lettering.
5. This shows the completed shapes with a re-arranged title formation. No attempt has yet been made to decide on the colour scheme.
6. The Recolour Artwork command of Illustrator is used to create a harmonious mixture of flat tones to complement the colours of the associated image.
