If you've use the iPhone BBC App, it's similar, but bigger and shows more information at once. It also plays back video, seamlessly and smoothly. If you're out of the office a lot but need to keep up to date with the news, this is invaluable.

Creative Applications
Adobe's Photoshop Express allows basic image editing on the iPad itself. You're limited to the following manipulations: Crop, Straighten, Rotate and Flip; Adjustments of Exposure, Saturation, Contrast and tinting (inc B&W); Filters of Sketch, Soft Focus, Sharpen and Noise Reduction (premium) and some borders and effects. The premium feature pack gives primarily the noise reduction function, but also has "self timers" for the camera. This is aimed more at the iPhone than the iPad.
Adobe Ideas
This is a little gem of an application we stumbled across. It's like a very basic Adobe Illustrator, allowing you to sketch, freehand, onto a canvas to note down or express ideas. You can also load a photograph into it, either directly from the camera or from the iPad itself, and then draw on the top of them.
There's a £2.99 premium upgrade which allows up to 10 layers. It also supports the screen duplication outputs using Apple's adaptors, so you can share you ideas with more than a couple of people.
What about relaxing?
As well as making professional use of your new purchase, we're sure it will get equal amounts of casual use; indeed your main problem might be keeping it out of the hands of the kids! Here's a quick look at other apps you'll definitely want to take a look at!
Guardian's Eye Witness - Free
This is simply stunning. Media Guardian Group take their best photojournalist's images and distribute them to their own app, which serves the purpose of showing just how good the iPad's display is; and how to take pictures!
Rough Guide World Lens - Free
If you like travelling or are lucky enough to do it as your job, this app includes some wonderful photographs from all over the world.
Remote Desktop Lite (free) and other remote access apps (Free or Paid)
There's several remote desktop or remote access options. Some are free, others are paid or require small monthly subscriptions for their service. If you often need remote access to a Windows or Mac Computer back in the office, you'll find several ways to do it.
