The Perfect Lens Storm - part 5 of 1 2 3 4 5

In the screen grab the 14mm shot is shown before and after use of the built-in lens profile from Adobe Camera Raw - note how the Mersey Ferry is backed astern by the correction; this would not be the 'go to' lens for reproduction! We note that the significant edge distortion of the 70-200mm lens at 200mm is much improved between the version I and version II of this lens. We found when making panoramas (see GigaPan review) that the normal level of overlap was inadequate to get round this issue, the bottom corners were always rather fuzzy. We detected a small amount of chromatic aberration on the 24-70mm lens at 24mm, especially close to the frame edge. As with distortion this was removed in the ACR dialogue.

Overall, then, the three lenses can be used with complete confidence for the majority of professional work.
